DESTINATION UPDATES: GREEN KEY Eco-Rating Program in Russia: First hotels have got certificates

Recently 5 hotels  (Park Inn Pribaltiyskaya, Radisson Royal, Park Inn Nevskiy, Park Inn Pulkovskaya and Radisson Sonya)  in St. Petersburg from Rezidor Hotel Group have received International Ecological Certificate  “The Green Key”. The Green Key is a worldwide available eco-label awarded to leisure organizations, as hotels, conference- and holiday centers and etc. To obtain The Green Key the company has to fulfill a list of environmental requirements.  Besides environmental demands ( by example to control the production of waste and the use of water, electricity, etc.), the criteria include demands on policy, action plans, education and communication.

All Rezidor Hotels in St. Petersburg use energy-saving lamps, in order to decrease water consumption hotels installed special aerators in the rooms. Cleaning products are used only if they have eco-stamp and eco-certificated. All rooms have cart-readers which automatically switch off the light in the room after guest left the room in order to save electricity and etc. All above is aimed to improve ecological situation in the city.
